IN an India-wide exclusive, Mumbai Duty Free is offering a ‘masterpiece’ 52 year old Bowmore 1965 bottling via online auction.
The expression, from the Islay single malt scotch distillery, is on display at Mumbai Duty Free’s departures store at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport.
Bidding, via Mumbai Duty Free’s website, closes on 17 April, with the base price set at US$50,000.
Part of the Bowmore 50-Year-Old Vaults series, the bottling began life in the oldest maturation warehouse in the world during the 1960s.
Known as No. 1 Vaults, the warehouse is situated close to the sea at the Islay distillery, offering unique conditions for ageing whisky.
Access to Bowmore 1965 through the retailer is described as an “unparalleled opportunity” for collectors, with just 232 bottles released globally.
“At Mumbai Duty Free, we are dedicated to providing our customers with unique products and are pleased to bring the Bowmore 1965 to India, exclusively available at our store,” said Amit Butani, Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships at Mumbai Duty Free.
“This 52-year-old spirit represents our commitment to excellence and our promise to provide a superior and unparalleled shopping experience for its esteemed clientele.”
Mumbai Duty Free has just concluded its Golden Ticket campaign, where customers had the opportunity to win gift vouchers worth US$6,000 every week for 12 weeks.
